Late TD Gives Broncos 14-10 Win Over Falcons In Preseason Opener

The Denver Broncos found a way to pull out a win.

Quarterback Brett Rypien threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Juwann Winfree with 1:26 to go in the game to give the Broncos a 14-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason opener for both teams at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

Rypien engineered a nine play, 38 yard drive after Trey Johnson intercepted Falcons quarterback Matt Schaub.

Broncos running back Khalfani Muhammad rushed for a team-high 50 yards on seven carries and scored on a three-yard run in the first quarter.

Kevin Hogan started the game at quarterback for the Broncos. He completedfive-of-eight passes for 37 yards. Drew Lock was seven-of-11 for 34 yards. Rypien ended up five-of-10 for 41 yards and the touchdown.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio was hospitalized earlier in the day with a kidney stone and coached the game with the condition.
