The offense was there. The pitching was there. The defense was there.

And in the end, the victory was too.

The Colorado Rockies had pretty much everything going in a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday night at PNC Park.

Daniel Murphy hit a three-run home run in the first inning to get things started.

After the Pirates closed the gap to 3-2 with a pair of run in the second, Rockies catcher Tony Wolters drilled his first home run of the season, a three-run shot to right field, and the lead was 6-2.

The Rockies never looked back.

Starter Jon Gray went seven innings and gave up three runs on seven hits with only one walk and seven strikeouts.

It was the first time all season the Rockies had starters go seven or more innings in back-to-back games.

The Rockies banged out 16 hits, second-most in a game this season.
