In an unexpected development, the Denver Broncos and Gary Kubiak are parting ways.

Kubiak was expected to take over as new head coach Vic Fangio's offensive coordinator.

According to multiple reports, however, Kubiak and the Broncos had differences in offensive philosophy and staffing.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news.

He reportedly wanted to bring back former Broncos assistants Rick Denison and Brian Pariani while the organization did not want to do so.

Kubiak retired in 2016 due to health concerns after two seasons as Broncos head coach. He led Denver to a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Kubiak spent 11 years as the Broncos offensive coordinator and was with the Broncos as a back-up quarterback from 1983-1991.

In addition, the Broncos are reportedly pursuing Mike Munchak as their offensive line coach. He was the second finalist to Vic Fangio for the team's head coaching position.
