REPORTS: Broncos Emmanuel Sanders Tears Achilles

***UPDATED: Multiple reports ow say Sanders indeed suffered a torn left Achilles tendon.


The Denver Broncos have lost their number one wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

Sanders was running a route in a non-contact situation when he went down during Wednesday's practice at UCHealth Training Center.

Multiple media reports said Sanders' injury was indeed a torn Achilles, Immediately after practice, Broncos head coach Vance Joseph could not confirm that was his fear.

"We're not sure," Joseph said. "He's having an MRI in the next hour so we'll know more. It didn't look good."

Sanders is yet another Broncos starter to sustain a season-ending or major injury.

Joseph said all they can do is focus on preparing to win Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers with the players they have available.

"We can't cry about it. We have to move on and go play a football game on Sunday," Joseph said.

Sanders leads the Broncos with 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns.

The Broncos claimed wide receiver Andre Holmes off waivers from the Bills. In 12 games this season, Holmes had 12 catches for 157 yards and no touchdowns.

The Broncos play at the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday, Dec. 9. Coverage begins at 8 a.m. MST with kickoff scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
