In a day full of enough possibilities and suspense, the Rockies took a lot of the drama away early in a 12-0 win over the Washington Nationals on the final day of the regular season.

The Rockies jumped on Nationals starter Erick Fredde in the first inning. Charlie Blackmon opened the inning with a triple into the right field corner. With two outs, Nolan Arenado hit a two-run home run.

Charlie Blackmon cranked a two-run home run to right in the third and the rout was on.

The Rockies added three more runs in the fifth inning on David Dahl's home run down the left field line.

Left-hander Tyler Anderson made that more than enough run support.

Anderson went seven-and-two-thirds scoreless innings and gave up four hits, walked three and struck out five.

Blackmon finished the afternoon by hitting for the cycle. After the triple in the first inning and hitting the home run (his 27th) in the third, Blackmon singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the eighth to finish off his first-ever cycle.

The Dodgers blanked the Giants, 15-0, in San Francisco.

The Rockies and Dodgers will play a tiebreaker game with the N.L. West title on the line on Monday at Dodger Stadium. Coverage starts at 1:30 p.m. MDT on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM.
