For the second straight night, the Colorado Rockies got the bats going and overwhelmed the Philadelphia Phillies, 10-3, for their fifth straight win.
In the process, the Rockies jumped over the St. Louis Cardinals and into the second N.L. Wild Card spot. The Cardinals lost to the Brewers, 12-4.
Furthermore, the Rockies pulled to within a half-game of the Dodgers in the N.L. West after L.A. fell to Arizona, 4-3. Eduardo Escobar hit a walk-off, solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the D'backs.
Rockies outfielder David Dahl jump-started the offense in the third inning against the Phillies. He hit an opposite-field, three-run home run to left field to put the Rockies ahead to stay, 3-1.
Dahl finished 3-5 with four RBIs. D.J. LeMahieu was also 3-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
It was pitching-by-committee for the Rockies. Starter Chad Bettis went two-and-two-thirds innings. DJ Johnson followed bu pitching one-third of an inning and wound up getting his first Major League win.
Chris Rusin, Jake McGee, Scott Oberg ,Yency Almonte, Harrison Musgrave and Bryan Shaw all helped close it out.
