Wyoming Wins, CSU Loses To Open Season

Colorado State wide receiver Warren Jackson gets tripped up in Saturday's loss to Hawaii.


Saturday, Colorado State and Wyoming opened their respective seasons.

The Cowboys got a win; the Rams fell short.


HAWAII 43, COLORADO STATE 34

The Rams started slowly and it cost them.

After Olabisi Johnson's   yard touchdown catch tied the game 7-7 with 5:26 left in the first quarter, the Rainbow Warriors went to work.

Hawaii scored 30 unanswered points and led 37-7 with 3:35 to go in the third quarter.

The Rams fought back and got within 40-34 with 4:42 remaining in the game. But Hawaii got a field goal to seal it with under a minute to go.

WYOMING 29, NEW MEXICO STATE 7

It was all about defense for the Cowboys in Saturday's season-opening win at New Mexico St.

The Cowboys clamped down and allowed the Aggies only 135 yards of total offense all day.

Leading 15-0 at halftime, the Cowboys got a 56 yard touchdown run from Nico Evans with 7:13 to go in the third quarter.

They were up 29-0 when the Aggies finally got on the scoreboard with 1:16 to go in the game.
