It's a No Politics Thursday Blog!

HE'S GONNA DO A HECKUVA JOB ON KOA!  I am thrilled to welcome Michael Brown back to KOA as he begins his new venture here.  He launched the Heckuva Show with Michael Brown last night here on KOA but he's visiting with me at 3.

DAVE FINALLY WATCHED CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS AND HAS A REVIEW He'll give it today.

A FORMER MARINE KILLS 12 AT A COUNTRY BAR And this story is simply horrible.  Horrible because 12 people are dead. Horrible because this may make it harder for a veteran struggling with PTSD to get help.  Horrible because this man arrived at the belief that shooting up a bar was a good idea and no one saw it coming.  Horrible.

IF THIS GUY WINS I SUSPECT THERE WILL BE A SLEW OF COPY CATS I'm talking about a 69 year old Dutch man who "identifies" as only 49 years old and is now suing to change his age.  From the article:

"When I'm 69, I am limited. If I'm 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work.

"When I'm on Tinder and it say I'm 69, I don't get an answer. When I'm 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.

Luxurious position indeed.  He argues that if a transgendered person can have their gender changed he should have the same right to lower his age.  The court will rule in four weeks.  I can't wait for the follow up.

SEEMS LIKE BLUE MONDAYS ARE A VERY REAL THING And in Japan suicides spike on Monday morning.  Suicide is more of an accepted thing in Japan, but this is still horrible.  What I should have said in that last sentence is Japan has a serious suicide problem that goes back a long, long time.  But now they know men are more likely to kill themselves Monday morning more than any other time.

HERE'S A TINY ROBOT THAT CAN SWIM AROUND IN YOUR EYE TO MEDICATE YOU And right now you're all like "AAAAGH I don't want something in my eye" but this robot is itty bitty teeny tiny and could help deliver medicine for glaucoma far more effectively than it can be delivered now.

THIS IS SUCH A SMALL GESTURE BUT GOES A LONG WAY WITH WOMEN I hate to shop.  HATE. IT. But I hate to shop online even more because they put clothes on little itty bitty models with no boobs or butt and then I'm supposed to try and figure out if it will translate to my body type.  A clothing line called Pretty Little Thing is now showing each outfit on two models, one a size 6 and one a size 18.  While I am neither of these sizes, it's nice to see how these clothes look on a bigger model as a frame of reference.  Too bad this site is about 20 years too young for me, but it's a start.

WELL DONE AURORA!  Aurora voters overwhelmingly voted to get rid of red light cameras.  And with these comments to the Denver Post we can all stop pretending to believe that red light cameras were ever about safety:

Some city officials, however, are now worried about where they will find critical funding for Aurora organizations that benefit from the ticketing revenue.

The red-light program, which has been around since 2005, raised more than $2.4 million in 2017 on over 46,000 tickets, according to data provided by the city of Aurora. A portion of that money, nearly $500,000, goes to organizations related to mental health and detox programs, domestic violence services and child abuse and advocacy groups. Another $288,000 goes toward victim services such as crisis intervention and health services.

They did give some lip service to safety but it was totally belied by this data:

Total crashes have increased to 80 in 2017 from 65 in 2013, a 23 percent bump. Injuries from these crashes have also increased to 23 in 2017 from eight in 2013. The number of crashes with no injuries has stayed relatively constant over the five years.

Red light cameras suck and should go.  Period.
