It's Transportation Tuesday! And Oh My, Nike.

CDOT'S MICHAEL LEWIS ON AT 2PM We are talking gap project and other things that will make traffic worse before it gets better.

BRETT KAVANAUGH SHOULD HAVE TO FILE A CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORT FOR TODAY As a bunch of Democrats used the occasion of his nomination hearings to launch their POTUS campaigns, (I'm looking at you Corey Booker and Kamala Harris).  I had no idea that Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski had decided to vote for Kavanaugh, but that's the only reason I can fathom for the Democrats to act this way.  They are just playing to their respective bases and setting up fundraising emails

WHAT THE HECK IS NIKE THINKING?  Colin Kaepernick is their new "it" boy and the face of the reboot of the "Just Do It" campaign.  They are using the tagline:

"Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything."

Let's unpack that for a moment.  Does anyone believe that Kaepernick took a knee with the knowledge that it would make him largely unhireable in the NFL?  I doubt it.  Do you think he would have done the same thing if he'd known it?  I doubt it.  Personally, I don't think he thought this whole thing through.  For those drawing comparisons to the Civil Rights Movement, consider that the Civil Rights Movement had a clearly defined goal: equal rights under the law for black people.  This is Kaepernick's reasoning for his choice:

"To me, this is something that has to change," Kaepernick said in an August 2016 interview. "And when there's significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it's supposed to represent and this country is representing people the way that it's supposed to, I'll stand."

So what does that look like?  How do you measure this?  What is this "significant change" you speak of?  And that's why I think this protest has run it's course until and unless it has more clearly defined and demonstrable goals.  Until then, just stand up already.  Oh wait, he's not in the NFL anymore.

WHY IS A GUY WORKING A REAL JOB A NEWS STORY?  You may have seen this story about a former actor working at a Trader Joe's checking people out.  I'm still not sure why this is a story, but the reporter who wrote it should be ashamed of their choice.  This column really nails it.

FRANCE BANS MOBILE PHONES IN SCHOOLS Because kids use them to bully other kids and share pornography.  Sigh.  We've ruined these kids.

IF YOU'RE A RACIST, TRY TO BE A BLACK RACIST BECAUSE THAT'S OKAY The fallout from the Aretha Franklin funeral is about two things.  One, a black pastor had the NERVE to call out black families and black fathers and tell men they were important to their children's lives.  THE. NERVE. Second, the other black pastor made a lame joke about Ariana Grande's name and then accidentally groped her.  But NO ONE IS THE LEAST BIT upset about noted racist and anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan sharing the stage with a former POTUS.  Because he's the right color racist, amiright?

HERE'S SOME STUFF ONLY ADULTS NOTICE IN FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF Even though I am an adult I still missed some of this.

WANT TO DIE EARLY?  JUST DO THESE THINGS! Four in five adults do things that could shorten their lifespans significantly, but most of us have no interest in fixing them.  Take the "heart age test" by clicking here to find out what you can do to extend your health life.  Guess what?  It's mostly about not being fat, controlling cholesterol and not smoking.

OMAROSA SEEMS TO HAVE TAPED EVERY CONVERSATION SHE EVER HAD IN THE WHITE HOUSE And this is one of the times when having a non-politician in office is definitely the issue.  They weren't expecting it and did make sure conversations were secure before they had them.  But it also makes Omarosa out to be a total climber whose entire motivation for taking a White House job was to capitalize on it.  They both deserve each other.

DEAR GOLDEN, SERIOUSLY?  The City of Golden is considering making the voting age in municipal elections to 16.  Mmmkay.  Would you let a sixteen year old negotiate a contract on your behalf?  Should we hold them liable for entering into a legal contract at age 16?  Would you have wanted your 16 year old self to vote on any issue your NOW self would have to live with?  If the answer to any of these questions is no, this must not happen.
