A North Korean Summit and the dumbest ad ever.

I WOULD SAY THE SUMMIT WITH NORTH KOREA YIELDED A SMALL POSITIVE FIRST STEP With President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un releasing a joint statement saying that North Korea had promised to work towards the goal of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.  What does that mean exactly?  No one knows yet, but Trump agreed to stop military exercises with our ally South Korea in the mean time.  He also indicated that the exercises would only stop as long as North Korea makes progress towards that goal.  This is not a huge step forward by any means, and we'll see how this all pans out in the long run.  It remains to be seen what an actual deal looks like rather than a promise sent out as a statement.  As Mary Poppins said, this is a pie crust promise, easily made and easily broken.

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR A DISASTER AT YOUR HOME?  With wildfires blazing all over Colorado and my recent experience watching a brush fire destroy a neighborhood in California in a little more than an hour I thought it might be good to check in with an insurance professional about what you should do BEFORE your house is threatened by any sort of natural disaster in case you lose your home in a blink.  Mr. David Stegall joins me at 2pm to discuss.

DPD HAS A PROBLEM WITH STATISTICS And I wonder if this "problem" will be solved when Chief Robert White is finally gone.  From officers "reclassifying" crimes to get the crime stats down to giving false numbers to the Denver City Council about the race of kids being cited for curfew violations, there is a real problem here.  Unless you don't care about accurate information that is.  To Chief White I say don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you and take your racially charged and woefully statistically inaccurate culture with you.

MILLENIALS ARE NOW RUINING HOMELESSNESS Of course I am being sarcastic, but this article about people who not necessarily homeless because of dire financial circumstances but by choice pretty much says the youngsters ARE ruining it.  Because these so-called "dirty kids" are openly doing drugs, train hopping and panhandling aggressively, cities are cracking down on the homeless population.  The people in question come from all walks of life, including middle and upper class homes, but they've chosen to live on the street.  Many come from challenging home situations.  From the Fox News article

“I was adopted at age 9. I came from a sexually abusive family,” Reitz told Fox News. “They separated me and my brothers at a really young age and it tore me apart really bad.”

Reitz, now 26, is originally from Virginia and has been on and off the streets for the last six years. He’s hoping to make enough money to get to Reno, Nev., and from there, Washington State, so he can hike the Pacific Crest Trail with his two pit bull mixes, Zeke and Shiloh.

Reitz says that he doesn’t mind the itinerant lifestyle – although he does plan to end his traveling days soon. Still, he gets upset at being labeled a drug addict or criminal because of his choice to be homeless. Reitz acknowledges that he used to drink heavily and abuse drugs, but now says he doesn’t even touch alcohol and only smokes marijuana.

“A lot of people out here stereotype me because they look at me sitting here and think I must be on drugs,” Reitz told Fox News. “They don’t realize that I come from bad circumstances.”

What I'd love to say to this man is, "so what?"  Many people come from bad circumstances and manage to overcome them to be successful.  But that would be mean to tell him he's not a victim, wouldn't it?

SEATTLES LIBS FINALLY WENT TOO FAR And now the Seattle City Council is meeting tonight to consider the repeal of the month old "head tax" they levied on all employers with $20 million a year in income.  Why the reconsideration?  Because Amazon threatened to leave.  We'll see if the socialist on the city council gets her way or if the rest of the council comes to it's senses.

WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM THE MOST RECENT PERA "FIX" The Independence Institute's Joshua Sharf has an excellent Op-Ed on four lessons learned from this most recent attempt to fix a system that needs to be totally overhauled.  It's a great read and everyone, whether or not you're a PERA recipient should read it.  Because every taxpayer is now on the hook every year for this behemoth.

THIS HAS TO BE THE STUPIDEST AD I'VE EVER SEEN IN POLITICS I appreciate what this guy thinks he's trying to do, but honestly.  This is just incredibly, incredibly dumb.  Especially because you can order a gas mask on Amazon

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET THIS BE A THING IN 2020! Alec Baldwin was on the Howard Stern show when Stern suggested Baldwin run as the Democratic nominee in 2020.  Baldwin confidently said he would win "100% win" and I SOOOOOOOO want this to happen.  PLEASE MAKE MY DREAM COME TRUE!

THIS IS WHEN SPORT IS AT IT'S BEST Two lifelong friend faced each other in the Minnesota State playoffs.  When the pitcher successfully struck out his friend to help his team reach the finals, what happened next is what matters.  I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying.

WHAT DOES GOD LOOK LIKE?  IT DEPENDS ON YOUR POLITICAL LEANINGS A group of researchers decided to come up with a picture of God.  They used descriptions given by 551 Christians to create a sort of God mug shot.  It got interesting when they cross referenced political leanings with those descriptions.  Conservatives subscribed to the Old White Guy version of God, while liberals went with a younger, more feminine version.

ISN'T IT WEIRD THAT DEMOCRATS CARE ABOUT IMMIGRANTS NOW THAT TRUMP IS IN CHARGE? Senator Dianne Feinstein was on with Jake Tapper and she answered honestly when Jake asked why Democrats didn't seem to mind when President Obama's administration treated illegal immigrants THE EXACT SAME WAY they are being treated now.  Oddly she's woke on the issue now.

YES, VIRGINIA, EGGS ARE GOOD FOR YOU I am squarely in the "Eggs Are Good" category and not just because they are delicious.  I can't tell you how little I trust our government on nutrition.  From the disastrous food pyramid that made us all fat to the shameless political lobbying that goes into the FDA guidelines, I simply don't pay attention to them.  This article articulates the battle between the latest nutritional and medical studies and what the government tells us.
