Life in Small Towns in Better, The Q and Tattoos

ARE PEOPLE IN SMALL TOWNS HAPPIER?  A new Canadian survey says yes.  When researchers consulted several massive surveys and compiled the data, the answer seems to a firm yes.  This debate has raged on for a really, really long time.  Here is a much older article about pretty much the same thing.   I am from a small town and have lived in the biggest cities in the country and cities very much in between, so I'm going to bring my personal insight into this entire thing.  I do think cities have benefits in terms of what is available to you at any given moment.  But I think living in a city is oddly very isolating even as you are surrounded (way too close for my taste) by people.  I would say the more neurotic people I know are big city dwellers, while the happiest people I know live in the suburbs of medium size cities.  Why?  I'll explain later.

DAVE THE INTREPID IS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A TATTOO And I'm not even kidding.  His daughter Annie is trying to talk him into it.  I am anti-tattoo most of the time, but what the hell, Dave is almost 70, it's not like he needs to make a good impression on his next interview.  Wait until you hear what he's thinking of getting.  Here is what he's considering.

DID THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION SPY ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN?  That seems to the be the logical conclusion when you read this New York Times cover piece (and I don't mean it was on the cover, I mean it is clearly written to give the FBI cover for this entire operation) about how the FBI was merely securing NATIONAL SECURITY when they began having an informant we now know to be Stefan Halper quiz Trump campaign associates on what they knew about Russia hacking DNC emails.  From the Times article (which is paywalled):

After opening the Russia inquiry about a month later, they took steps, those officials said, to ensure that details of the inquiry were more closely held than even in a typical national security investigation, including the use of the informant to suss out information from the unsuspecting targets. Sending F.B.I. agents to interview them could have created additional risk that the investigation’s existence would seep into view in the final weeks of a heated presidential race. (emphasis mine)

F.B.I. officials concluded they had the legal authority to open the investigation after receiving information that Mr. Papadopoulos was told that Moscow had compromising information on Mrs. Clinton in the form of “thousands of emails,” months before WikiLeaks released stolen messages from Democratic officials. As part of the operation, code-named Crossfire Hurricane, the F.B.I. also began investigating Mr. Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and his future national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn.

Got that?  They couldn't send real FBI agents because they don't trust their own people to not leak.  Or they couldn't send real FBI agents because they knew this whole thing stunk to high heaven and wanted to make sure people had plausible deniability.  Either one isn't very flattering to the FBI, so perhaps that's why we have this:

The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee warned Friday that his colleagues could be committing a crime if they obtain the identity of a secret FBI source and use it to undermine the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) raised the alarm in a Friday evening statement, as Republican allies of President Donald Trump have pressed the Justice Department for details about a source believed to have aided the FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Trump campaign contacts with Russians.

“It would be at best irresponsible, and at worst potentially illegal, for members of Congress to use their positions to learn the identity of an FBI source for the purpose of undermining the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in our election," Warner said. "Anyone who is entrusted with our nation’s highest secrets should act with the gravity and seriousness of purpose that knowledge deserves.”

Except we now know that Stefan Halper isn't an agent in the field, he's an academic with a long history of working with intelligence agencies.  And my favorite part is where they say "and use it to undermine the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election." as the dangling punishment.  Imagine if we found out that the Bush Administration had an FBI informant contact the Obama campaigns members because of his close relationship with Marxists in his life.  I'm sure that would have been well received.

AL SHARPTON IS A RACE BAITING FOOL WHO IS TRYING TO HIDE THE END OF HIS CAREER By trying to make the Prince Harry and Meghan wedding into a commentary on the "end of white male supremacy".  You can read about his speech (I refuse to call anything this hateful man spews a sermon) here but let me sum it up for you.  The fact Prince Harry married a biracial woman has white supremacists up in arms because it symbolizes the end of white male supremacy.  Child, please.  Let me tell the Rev. Al what it really was:  it was the indication that most people don't CARE about race, that the Royal Family is now allowed to marry for love instead of political strategy and that any little girl or boy can now grow up wanting to marry a Prince or Princess.  And it also means that the race-division strategies Al is used to using will no longer have power because it's hard to argue that people of color can't succeed when we've had a black POTUS and a half black Duchess of Sussex.  And that means Al is out of work.

SENATE REPUBLICANS DON'T GIVE A RAT'S PATOOTIE ABOUT FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY And our GOP Senator Cory Gardner will never have a shred of credibility if he ever tries to talk about fiscal responsibility again, as he voted No on Senator Rand Paul's Penny Plan which would balance the federal deficit in five years.  I'm again wondering what the difference is between the two parties when a MAJORITY OF REPUBLICANS IN THE US SENATE VOTED AGAINST IT.

THIS IS AN OLDIE BUT A GOODIE ON THE IRAN DEAL From Ami Horowitz with Fox News.  He asked Brooklynites why the supported the Iran deal when it was agreed upon.

MAYOR HANCOCK AND HIS PEEPS KNOW HOW TO TRAVEL IN STYLE ON YOUR DIME!  Did you happen to see this little ditty from our friends at CBS4 about the Mayor's recent trip to Paris.  Seems erebody flew business class and some of the tickets were 7 grand, ONE WAY.  I'm glad I don't live in Denver because I would be P-Oed at this.

WOMEN DRIVING IN SAUDI ARABIA HAS GOTTEN FOUR WOMEN ARRESTED Because wanting women to be able to drive will "destabilize the kingdom and breach its social structure and mar the national consistency" according to the Kingdom.  Seriously?  This is why I do NOT like Saudi Arabia.  Not one bit.

MORE WOMEN OVER 40 ARE HAVING BABIES And this is the least surprising story of the day to me.  I am friends with many, many women who put off having babies while they empire built and now they are paying through the nose for the chance to be a mommy.  And I don't blame them for wanting that one single bit.

SPEAKING OF MOMMYHOOD, MY GIRL TURNS 9 TODAY!  And I thought I'd share a photo of The Q to mark the occasion.  This was taken a little while ago.

NICHOLAS MADURO WON A FAKE ELECTION IN VENEZUELA And I'm not sure who is celebrating this, but he banned his opponents from running and people were threatened going to the ballot box.  I'm sure this was fair and square.

CLASSY GUY PEES ON THE SEAT IN FRONT OF HIM DURING A FRONTIER FLIGHT And if anyone knows THIS GUY

Guy Peeing on airplane

Please tell him not to come back to Colorado.  And thanks to our partners at CBS 4 Denver for letting me know this man is a thing.
