Songs You Can't Forget and A Drug Company Gone Bad

IT'S TIME FOR THE DEA TO GROW A PAIR As we are seeing record high rates of opioid addiction and overdose deaths, there is a lot of hand wringing about how to turn this around.  I happen to think the pharmaceutical companies bear a lot of the blame.  That and completely weak willed politicians raking in campaign donations from companies like McKesson and if not directly from the company, from their PACs.  This story from 60 Minutes last night is disgusting.  Click here to watch it, there isn't an embed option.  BUT PLEASE WATCH IT.  I can only hope that someone who lost a loved one to addiction through a pill mill supplied by McKesson will sue the sh*t out of these people and win billions, because our government is too cowardly to go up against this company.  A company which thinks nothing of sending poison to shady dealing pharmacies all over the country.  I don't know how these executives sleep at night with the blood of thousands on their hands.  Disgusting.  This is what people who hate capitalism think of when they rail against it, and in this case, I understand their feelings.  These people should be in jail and the government which is supposed to hold them accountable is doing nothing.  And people are dead because of it.

THERE IS ONE CHRISTMAS SONG I MUST NOT EVER HEAR AGAIN. Because it gets in my head and I can never, ever get it out.  I'm going to post it here but I'M NOT LISTENING TO IT.

Y'ALL, I JUST CAN'T WITH THIS ONE.  BUT WE ARE RUINING MEN FOREVER. Not all men, but the men who are coming of age when being male is at a bare minimum a thought crime.  This column on the rise of the "zeta males" is so completely depressing for not only the men who make up that class, but the women who are supposed to find them attractive.  A recent study showed that women still like men who look strong, especially upper body strength.  A multitude of other studies have shown women like leadership skills, a deep voice, and a bit of stubble.  Hardly the characteristics of the timid, down-with-the-struggle self hating dude worried about talking about girls with his friends.  The human race is totally going to die out at this rate.

DID MUELLER GET TRUMP'S TRANSITION EMAILS INCORRECTLY? And I struggled to find the right word to use and landed on "incorrectly" because I'm not sure what truly describes what might have occurred.  It seems that Mueller's investigators have been asking people questions based on 10,000 plus emails grabbed from the transition team's email accounts through the GSA.  The problem is that some of them seem to fall under privileged communication or not have anything to do with the Russia probe.  Watch this one, it could be interesting.

AND HERE IS ANOTHER STORY OF OUR GOVERNMENT LETTING DRUGS RUN WILD And this one is at the feet of the Obama Administration entirely (whereas the scam in the first story is  bipartisan affair).  According to Politico.com, who apparently has decided NOW to investigate the Obama Administration, Obama allowed Hezbollah to run cocaine and launder money in the US because shutting down the billion dollar criminal enterprise would have hurt his chances of getting the BS Iran nuke deal done.  There are all kinds of details here, but that's the long and short of it.

I'M PRETTY SURE TODAY'S NEWS IS PUNKING US Because here is a story about a woman EATING HER DEAD MOTHER'S ASHES ON HER CHRISTMAS TURKEY.  I give up.  I officially give up.

DNA TESTS ARE GREAT, UNLESS YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW This story about DNA testing that can show genetic markers for disease is really interesting.  When people find out they carry a higher risk for a certain disease, the assumption many make is that family members would want to know too. Except they don't sometimes, and you may be burdening them with information they don't want.  Not to mention, these DNA tests have blown up quite a bit of family lore for multiple people I know, including my own family lore.  Is this a good thing?  Or maybe not so much?

THIS IS A LOVELY COLUMN ABOUT UNDERSTANDING KINDNESS INSTEAD OF TAKING OFFENSE I love a good story about personal growth and this is a GOOD one.  Before you get offended by someone saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Hanukah" or "Happy Kwanzaa" or "Happy Whatever" try to understand their intention as that of an act of kindness, not attempted domination.  This is a real feel good story.

PLEASE TELL ME HOW ISRAEL IS THE PROBLEM AGAIN? Miss Iraq Universe thought nothing of posting a selfie with Miss Israel on her Instagram page.  The next day her family had to flee Iraq because of the death threats pouring in.  Between that and Iraqi officials threatening to take away Miss Iraq's title if she doesn't remove the post, Iraq sounds awesome, amiright?

THINK ALL TRUMP HAS DONE IS TWEET?  YOU MIGHT WANT TO READ THIS. Byron York has a nifty list of rather UGE accomplishments of President Trump in his first year in office.  It's kind of impressive, and if any OTHER Republican had done this, he or she would be a hero to the party.  But Trump didn't JUST do this.  He also regularly set Twitter afire with some needless tweet and created chaos within the White House with staffing issues.  But it's still a pretty impressive list.

I CAN'T TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS, BUT IT SHOWS THE TAX CUTS ARE DEFINITELY NOT FOR THE RICH. I have to credit listener Joseph for this one, and I'm gonna cut and paste it from his email:

From the IRS tax table below, current tax liability for the family of 4 with a gross income of $750,000 and $140,000 of itemized deductions (State income taxes + property taxes + Mortgage interest) yields a net taxable income of $593,800 and a Federal income tax liability of $180,811 (after also claiming 4 standard exemptions at $4,050 each).

After losing their four personal exemptions and all of their itemized deductions above $10,000 but subtracting their new standard deduction of $24,000 yields a net taxable income of $715,200 ($750,000- $10,000 - $24,000). Their FUTURE tax liability based on the new proposed brackets would be:

10% on the first $19,050 = $1,905 plus

12% on the next $58,350 = $7,002 plus

22% on the next $97,600 = $19,272 plus

24% on the next $150,000 = $36,000 plus

32% on the next $85,000 = $27,200 plus

35% on the next $200,000 = $70,000 and finally

37% on the amount above $600,000 (the sum of the first five brackets) = 37% X the remaining $115,200 = $42,624.

Now $1,905+ $7,002 + $19,272 + 36,000 + $27,200 + $70,000 + $42,624 = $204,003, AN INCREASE OF $23,192 (12.8%)  in their 2018 tax liability vs. the current tax law DESPITE the 2.6% reduction in the top rate from 39.6% to 37%.

Today's rates are 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33%, 35% and 39.6%.

Here's how much income would apply to the new rates: -- 10% (income up to $9,525 for individuals; up to $19,050 for married couples filing jointly) -- 12% (over $9,525 to $38,700; over $19,050 to $77,400 for couples) -- 22% (over $38,700 to $82,500; over $77,400 to $165,000 for couples) -- 24% (over $82,500 to $157,500; over $165,000 to $315,000 for couples) -- 32% (over $157,500 to $200,000; over $315,000 to $400,000 for couples) -- 35% (over $200,000 to $500,000; over $400,000 to $600,000 for couples) -- 37% (over $500,000; over $600,000 for couples)

2. Nearly doubles the standard deduction: For single filers, the bill increases it to $12,000 from $6,350 currently; for married couples filing jointly it increases to $24,000 from $12,700.

But I don't expect Democrats to correct the record, they are too invested in their "messaging win".  What's a "messaging win" you ask?  It's where the message being hammered by the Democrats is accepted as truth even if it's completely false. Sounds like Fake News to me.

A NEW WOMAN COMES FORWARD TO ACCUSE...LINDA SARSOUR OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT? If you don't know who Linda Sarsour is she is a real doozy.  She was one of the women who helped create the Women's March where grown ass women wore hats knitted to resemble vaginas.  Now she is being accused by former staffers of creating an environment where women were routinely harassed by what Sarsour referred to as "good Muslim men" who were "always at the Mosque".  And Sarsour not only dismissed the claims, but attacked the victim as too fat to be harassed.  But I'm sure she's otherwise a very nice person.
