THIS ICING IS AMAZING! And here is the recipe.
1/2 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk or cream ( I use about half and half of each)
2 cups of powdered sugar
Melt the butter over medium heat and add brown sugar and salt, bring to a boil, stirring constantly, for two minutes. Take this off the heat and stir in the milk/cream until blended. Put back on heat and bring to a boil for a minute then remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm. Once lukewarm, beat in powdered sugar a little bit at a time. Let it sit to firm up, add milk if it's too thick, although I've never had that issue. This will frost a two layer cake with a thin layer, but I usually double it to make it go further.
