8 Years for Castle Rock Man Convicted of Pot-Impaired Fatal Crash

A Castle Rock man was sentenced to 8 years in prison for driving while impaired by marijuana for killing 24 year old Amanda Hill in a 4-car crash on June 5, 2018. Sanchez told investigators that he had not been drinking or doing drugs at the time of the crash but he tested positive for low levels of THC. Douglas County District Judge Theresa Slade said "It wasn't just the decision to get behind the wheel- it was a decision to take an illegal substance and then drive." She imposed the maximum sentence under the terms of the plea agreement. District Attorney George Brauchler said "It is unfortunate and unnecessary that Colorado's weak laws to not promise a tougher penalties for impaired drivers who kill our innocent neighbors."
