Testimony continues today in the trial of a man accused of hitting and killing a Colorado State Trooper. Noe Gamez-Ruiz is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of Trooper Cody Donahue along I-25 near Castle Rock in November of 2016. During yesterday's opening statements, prosecutors claimed Gamez-Ruiz was negligent in not moving over to avoid hitting Donahue while troopers worked an existing crash. Defense attorneys called the death nothing more than a tragic accident, saying the driver couldn't change lanes due to traffic but had slowed down.
