Another West Nile Case in Colorado

Another case of West Nile virus has been reported, this time it is in Delta County.  Last week we heard of the first case in Weld County.

West Nile is a mosquito-borne illness.  The Colorado Department of Health says you can avoid the virus by using bug spray and limit outdoor activities at dawn and dusk.   You should also make sure there are no standing pools of water around your property.

Weather conditions have been ideal for the breeding of the Culex mosquito that carries the West Nile virus.  Last year there were 68 cases of West Nile virus in Colorado, including 4 deaths.
