Court Rules Against DougCo Over First Amendment

A federal court is finding Douglas County Schools in violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  The ruling released yesterday revolves around a 2014 mission trip by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Highlands Ranch High School.  The group American Humanist Association and parents filed suit, saying the school was encouraging people to donate to the trip which was advertised as promoting Christianity.  The court ruled against the district, saying the fundraising effort amounted to an "excessive government entanglement with religion."
