Gardner Pushes Protection for Pot States

In Washington D.C. they're calling them the odd couple. Colorado Republican Cory Gardner and  Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren are co-sponsoring a bill to protect states that have legalized marijuana. The bill would require the federal government to respect the will of voters in the states, whether they legalize or prohibit marijuana.

Gardner says he hopes the bill will also open up banking to the pot industry. The Senator says, while states and local governments can take pot tax revenues to the bank,  if you're  in the business or work for the business,  you can't get a bank loan or set up a bank account.  Gardner says "We need to fix this public hypocrisy."

Gardner says he has spoken to President Trump about this issue and says the President favors a states' rights approach to marijuana.
