May Showers Bring a Burst of Wildflowers

Recent rains are prompting a burst of color along Front Range hiking trails.  The Memorial Day weekend will see many people on trails in places like Castlewood Canyon State Park, where I took these photos on a hike this week.  Despite persistent drought in some parts of the state, trails in the foothills and in the higher elevations between Denver and Colorado Springs have gotten enough moisture recently to promote a wildflower bloom.
