One Year later: May Hailstorm Tab 2.3 Billion

One year after it happened, the final totals are in on the damage caused by a  catastrophic hailstorm that pounded the Denver Metro Area on May 8, 2017.  There were 167,000 car insurance claims and over 100,000 homeowners claims. The total payout hit 2.3 billion which ranks the hailstorm as the most expensive in Colorado history. The Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association says weather- related events and wildfires have caused insurance for Colorado homes to increase by 180 percent over the past several years. Colorado's car insurance rates are the third fasting rising in the nation.
