Hancock Won't Discipline His Police Chief

In a letter to the Denver Police Department Mayor Michael Hancock says Police Chief Robert White should have  exercised more professionalism and clarity in his conduct but will not face discipline following an investigation into two complaints against him.

White was accused of improperly denying an open records request from the Denver Police Protective Association and violating police policy following an accident he was involved in.

The Mayor's decision comes following an investigation that even he said went on for too long.

The Mayor's letter did not address an allegation against Deputy Chief Matt Murray for his response to an opens record request.

The decision letter comes as Mayor Hancock prepares to leave Denver to head to Paris.  He will be on Norwegian Air's first non-stop flight from DIA to Paris.
