Denver Zoo's New Baby Orangutan

Cerah

The Denver Zoo is announcing the birth of a baby Sumatran orangutan. Cerah was born on March 25 to  mom, Nias, and dad, Berani.  The name Cerah means "bright" in Indonesian and is often used to refer to sunshine.  Cerah and her mother are currently being kept out of public view so they have a chance to bond.

Sumatran orangutans are an endangered species. Their worldwide population is estimated at 14,600.
