Denver Government Closures for Cesar Chavez Day

Denver City Government Closed Monday, March 26

Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Monday, March 26 in observance of the César Chávez Day Holiday.

Due to the holiday, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed. Partner entities such as Denver Health will remain open Monday, March 26, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Monday, March 26 as well.

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG AND DENVER 8 TV

3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services will be closed Monday, March 26. Service requests may be submitted via mobile device using Pocketgov or online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org. Regular programming will continue on Denver 8 TV. 

ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL CONTROL

The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed on Monday, March 26. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce city regulations.

 BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS

Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed Monday, March 26. No building inspections will be scheduled that day.

CITY COUNCIL

Denver City Council will be closed Monday, March 26. City Council’s regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m.

CITY-OWNED GOLF FACILITIES

Golf courses will be open on Monday, March 26, weather permitting.

CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE LICENSES

The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Monday, March 26.

COURTSThe Denver County Court will be closed Monday, March 26. All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building, will be open.

DENVER ARTS & VENUES

All properties managed by Denver Arts & Venues, including Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center and Denver Coliseum, will be open for scheduled events and performances. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, including the Visitor Center, Trading Post and Ship Rock Grille, will be open to visitors during regular hours. McNichols Civic Center Building will be closed Monday, March 26.

DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES

The five Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Monday, March 26. For vehicle renewal online, visit the Denver Motor Vehicle website or pocketgov.com.

DENVER HUMAN SERVICES

Denver Human Services will be closed Monday, March 26, however the child and adult protection emergency response teams and telephone hotlines will be open and taking calls. To report suspected child abuse or neglect call 1-844-CO-4-KIDS (1-844-264-5437) from anywhere in Colorado. 

ELECTIONS DIVISION

The Denver Elections Division will be closed Monday, March 26.

EXCISE & LICENSES

Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Monday, March 26.

LIBRARIES

All Denver Public Library locations will be closed Monday, March 26. Many of the library's resources remain available when the buildings are closed. For more information, visit www.denverlibrary.org.

OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TALENT ACQUISITION TESTING 

The Office of Human Resources Talent Acquisition Testing Center will be closed Monday, March 26. Applicants will still be able to search and apply for open positions at www.denvergov.org/jobs.

OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER (CORONER)The Office of the Medical Examiner (Coroner) will be closed Monday, March 26. Office staff will be available to respond to emergencies.

PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE

Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays, and will be free Monday, March 26. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted and to follow all normal parking regulations all other days. The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office will be closed Monday, March 26. 

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS

Public Works’ permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement office will be closed Monday, March 26.

RECREATION CENTERS

All Denver Recreation Centers will be open on Monday, March 26.

TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION

Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected on Monday, March 26. Collection will be delayed by one day for the week of March 26.

VEHICLE IMPOUND FACILITY

The Vehicle Impound Facility, 5160 York St., will be closed Monday, March 26.

 WORKFORCE CENTERS

All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Monday, March 26. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
