The Colorado Fraternal Order of Police has sent a Letter to Governor John Hickenlooper asking that Denver Mayor Michael Hancock resign because of his corruption and unethical behavior. The five page letter calls for an investigation following the news that Hancock sent inappropriate texts to a female detective who was part of his security detail six years ago. Hancock has apologized but has refused calls to step down. The Mayor's office contends the FOP has opposed his administration's effort to reform the Police and Sheriff's departments and says the organization is trying to undermine the Mayor. The FOP is represents members of the Denver Sheriff's Department.
