He did it. They did it.

Martin Truex Jr. capped an incredible season by winning the final race of the year and clinching the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship for the Denver-based Furniture Row Racing team at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Truex Jr. won his eighth race this year and led for 71 laps to outlast Kyle Busch, who could not catch him over the final 15 laps. It was Truex Jr.'s fourth win in the NASCAR playoffs.

The win was as emotional as it was amazing. Truex Jr. missed several races this year as his longtime girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, continues to battle ovarian cancer.
