Mistakes Are Costly In Broncos 43-16 Loss To The Chiefs

Four turnovers.

An interception returned for a touchdown.

A 102-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

The Denver Broncos gave away too much in Sunday's 43-16 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile High.

Trailing 10-6 in the second quarter, Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen intercepted Broncos quarterback Drew Lock and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown to put the Chiefs up 17-6.

The Broncos responded with Brandon McManus' 43-yard field goal to make it 17-9.

But the Chiefs came up big on the ensuing kickoff. Byron Pringle brought it back 102 yards for a score and just like that the Chiefs were up 24-9 with 5:35 to go before halftime.

The Chiefs scored the first 13 points of the second half to put the game away.

Lock finished 24-of-40 for 254 yards and two interceptions. Melvin Gordon fumbled once and then errantly pitched the ball back to Lock on a flea-flicker in the second half and the Chiefs recovered.

The Broncos only came up with one turnover, a fumble recovery by cornerback Bryce Callahan.

The Chiefs won by 27 points despite going 0-for-8 on third down conversions.
