The Denver Broncos lost starting quarterback Drew Lock to a shoulder injury in the first quarter but still had a chance to come away with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It didn't happen.

The Steelers held the Broncos on the Pittsburgh 15 yard line with just under two minutes to play and came away with a 26-21 win.

Lock suffered the injury when Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree tackled him and forced a fumble in the first quarter. Lock did not return to the game and the exact nature of his injury was not known after the game.

Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted that Lock sustained a sprained AC joint and will miss 2-6 weeks.

Back-up quarterback Jeff Driskel came on in Lock's absence and completed 18-of-34 passes for 256 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

Denver trailed 26-14 after the Steelers tackled Broncos punter Sam Martin in the end zone for a safety with 10:01 remaining in the game.

Driskel led the Broncos on a six play, 55 yard drive in 1:58 and he hit Melvin Gordon on a 16-yard touchdown pass to get the Broncos within 26-21 with 7:43 to go.

Despite getting the ball back and driving the Broncos to the Steelers 15, Driskel threw incomplete passes on third and fourth downs and the Steelers ran out the clock.

Broncos tight end Noah Fant caught four passes for 57 yards, including a touchdown and two-point conversion. Wide receiver Courtland Sutton had three receptions for 66 yards before leaving the game with a cramping issue.

The Broncos are 0-2 and host the Tamp Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, September 27. Coverage will start with Broncos Warm-up at 8 a.m. MDT on KOA NewsRadio 850 KOA and 94.1 FM.
