After missing out on signing free agent defensive lineman DJ Reader on Tuesday, the Denver Broncos went to the trade market on Wednesday and acquired defensive tackle Jurrell Casey from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick in the 2020 draft.
Casey, 30, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Titans. In 2019, he had 44 tackles and five sacks in 14 games. He has 51 sacks in 139 career games.
The Titans selected Casey in the third round of the 2011 draft.
The price to acquire Casey was likely low due to his salary. According to Spotrac, Casey will earn a base salary of $11.25 million in 2020.
