Once-blind photographers show the world what they can now see
DENVER, January 31, 2017—A unique art exhibit featuring pictures taken by once-blind cornea transplant recipients will debut in March at the Artwork Network gallery in Denver. Through the pictures, the cornea transplant recipient photographers show the world what they are most grateful to see with their restored vision. The photos depict many aspects of life such as beautiful landscape or nature scenes, activities that they can now participate in and even details in everyday objects.
The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank asked cornea transplant recipients to take pictures of what they are thankful to see. The participants received corneas from eye donors in Colorado or Wyoming. Each photo is only possible because someone made the decision to be an eye tissue donor. Known as the Circle of Light Photo Project, this helps demonstrate the impact just one person can have on the life of another. This is the fifth year that the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank has hosted the project.
The exhibit will be on display March 7-15 at the Artwork Network Gallery located at 878 Santa Fe Drive in Denver. A special gala will be held on March 10 from 6-9 pm. The evening will include a public reception and a silent auction of the photographs. The proceeds benefit the sight-saving mission of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank. Many families of eye donors as well as some of the cornea transplant recipient photographers will be in attendance.
