Simply put, he was spectacular.

Better to say, they were spectacular.

The Colorado Avalanche scored two goals in a 1:43 span of the third period and third-string goalie Andrew Hammond made 44 saves to lead the Avs to an improbable 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.

The win pulls the Avalanche to within three games to two in the best-of-seven first round Stanley Cup playoff series.

After a replay review gave Nick Bonino and the Predators the first goal of the game at 10:18 of the third, the Avs responded.

Nathan MacKinnon found Gabriel Landeskog in front of the net. Landy put the puck home to tie the game at 15:49 of the third.

Shortly after, Sven Andrighetto hammered home a rebound with 1:28 left in the third period and the Avs had snapped their seven-game road losing streak against the the Predators.

Their last win in Nashville had been a 4-3 decision on March 28, 2016.

Game six will be at Pepsi Center on Sunday, April 22 with faceoff scheduled for 5 p.m. MDT.
