The Colorado Rockies did what they had to do on Thursday.

And it was good enough for a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.

Ryan McMahon's bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning broke up a 0-0 game. Two batters later, D.J. LeMahieu's two-run single brought home Chris Iannetta and Gerardo Parra and the Rockies were up 3-0.

Wade Davis allowed a run but closed out the Padres in the bottom of the ninth for his fourth save of the season.

LeMahieu finished 2-for-4 with the two RBIs. Outfielder Charlie Blackmon was 2-for-5.

The Rockies take three of four against the Padres and now return to Denver for Friday's home opener against the Atlanta Braves.
