BRONCOS NAME FORMER HEAD COACH GARY KUBIAK AS SENIOR PERSONNEL ADVISOR

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Tuesday named former Head Coach Gary Kubiak as Senior Personnel Advisor, Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway announced.

“With as much experience as he has evaluating players, Gary’s going to be a tremendous resource for our personnel department,” Elway said. “He’ll primarily help on the college side and assist us in free agency as well.

“Gary will be based out of his home in Texas while also making visits here throughout the year to participate in various personnel meetings.”

Kubiak, who stepped down as head coach of the Broncos on Jan. 2, helped the club to the second-most wins in the NFL (24 / 24-11, .686) in his two seasons. During the 2015 season, Kubiak became only the fourth individual in NFL history to lead a team to a Super Bowl victory in his first year as its head coach with the Broncos’ 24-10 win over Carolina in Super Bowl 50.

“It’s an honor for me to continue to be part of this great organization,” Kubiak said. “John and I talked long ago about any opportunity like this, and I’m very happy to be able to contribute on the personnel side.

“I said when I left that I still wanted to be involved in football. This gives me an opportunity to be involved with the game, and I’m excited to get to work.”

In 10 seasons as an NFL head coach (Denver, 2015-16 and Houston, 2006-13), Kubiak posted a career coaching record of 87-77 (.534). He has spent 22 years with the Broncos (nine as a quarterback from 1983-91; 11 as offensive coordinator from 1995-2005; two as head coach from 2015-16) and has been part of all three of the Broncos’ Super Bowl champion teams (1997-98, ‘2015).
