The young Rockies pitcher was clearly right on the Marq. Right-hander German Marquez turned in the best outing of his young career, allowing just three hits over eight scoreless innings to lead the Rockies to a 3-0 win over the Chicago Cubs and a series win over the defending World Series champion.

Ian Desmond's sacrifice fly in the fourth inning got the Rockies on the scoreboard. Marquez added to the lead himself with a two-run single in the seventh. It was his first Major League hit.

Marquez held the Cubs hitless through six innings. Third baseman Kris Bryant broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff double in the seventh inning.

Greg Holland pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his fourteenth save in fourteen chances.

The Rockies welcome the Dodgers to town on Thursday for the first of four games. Thursday's game begins with Rockies On Deck at 6:05 p.m. MDT on KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.a FM.
