Coors Field will not be full at the start of the season but fans will be able to attend Rockies home games.

The Rockies have received a variance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for 25 percent capacity or 12.500 fans per game to being the season.

"To create a safe and healthy experience for fans, players and staff, the Rockies have implemented all required CDPHE, CDC and MLB policies and guidelines. The Rockies and CDPHE will continue to monitor the conditions, with the hope of safely adding to the capacity number in the future," the Rockies said in a statement.

The team played 30 games in an empty Coors Field during last year's COVID-shortened season.

The first home game this season will be Opening Day on Thursday, April 1. The defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers will be at 20th and Blake.

KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM is the exclusive radio home of the Rockies. Listeners within Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties can hear the games streaming live, free of charge, on iHeartRadio. This includes via the iHeartRadio app for smartphones and tablets, via desktop and laptop computers at KOANewsRadio.com and on Smart Speakers (say “Play KOA on iHeartRadio”).

The Rockies begin their Spring Training schedule against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday, February 28. KOA will feature a 12-game Cactus League broadcast schedule.
