At long last, there will be a home crowd again.

The Colorado Rockies will be able to play in front of fans at Coors Field during the 2021 season.

Thursday night, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment confirmed to KOA NewsRadio that "the Rockies did submit a variance for CDPHE review. We approved this variance for fans in the stands pending a few adjustments."

No details of the exact plan have been released yet.

The Rockies are scheduled to open the regular season against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field on Thursday, April 1.

Colorado played 30 home games in an empty Coors Field during the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

KOA NewsRadio 850 AM and 94.1 FM is the exclusive radio home of the Rockies. Listeners within Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties can hear the games streaming live, free of charge, on iHeartRadio. This includes via the iHeartRadio app for smartphones and tablets, via desktop and laptop computers at KOANewsRadio.com and on Smart Speakers (say “Play KOA on iHeartRadio”).

KOA also features a 12-game Rockies Spring Training broadcast schedule that begins on Monday, March 1.
