TWO YOUNG WOMEN ARE CHANGING LIVES AROUND THE WORLD I love when someone is moved to action and then takes it. That is what happened when a woman in her early 20s from Uganda traveled to Lakewood High School to talk with kids about what it was like to hide in the jungle to avoid being kidnapped and forced to be a child soldier. The words of this woman, Collines Angewech, moved one 19-year old girl in the audience so much that she decided she wanted to dedicate her life to help children in Uganda. These two women developed a friendship, decided to create a charity, and ten years later this charity continues to make a big impact in the lives of children and families in Uganda. DOUGCO SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT MIKE PETERSON AT 2 And he's coming on to talk about the Mill Levy Override being asked for by the District. Again, I am ENTHUSIASTICALLY voting YES on this measure as we are losing great teachers to other districts because they make a LOT more money. The Mill Levy includes a citizens oversight committee to ensure it is spent on salaries and school security. It's in the language. Here is the language:

THE JURY HAS THE CASE IN THE FIRST ELIJAH MCCLAIN TRIAL This one of two police officers who were part of the horrible death of a young man who had some developmental issues but was doing nothing wrong while walking home from the store. I am not sure that they are guilty in the eyes of the law but we'll soon see if the jury thinks they are.
A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD BOY IS ACCUSED OF MURDERING ANOTHER TEEN And he turned himself in to police yesterday. He was not alone when this happened and I hope they bring all the people involved to justice. I also hope this young man goes to prison and decides to turn his life around instead of sharpening his criminal skills.
IT'S TIME TO DO AWAY WITH VACANCY COMMITTEES This is a great column on the nonsense that is our process for replacing lawmakers who leave the job early. In it, the author points out that BOTH of his "elected" representatives were chosen by a secretive committee who always choses a party insider. As a unaffiliated voter, he has had ZERO say in his representatives and how can this be constitutional? OH LOOK, A STABBING AT A HOMELESS HOTEL Three people were taken to the hospital with stab wounds at the Comfort Inn which is now being used for homeless housing. Some residents say they have been pleading for better security and that some families causing trouble should be kicked out. They aren't wrong, so why haven't they been booted? Maybe they will be relocated to jail after this.

JADA PINKETT SMITH IS GROSS She is about to release a tell all book about her marriage and family life with and without Will Smith. She's now admitted that she and Will have lived separately for YEARS. She is cashing in on her family's issues and I think that's gross. Will needs to just cut bait on this one.
