Tue Blog: Kick Off the New Year the Healthy Way with Michelle Zellner

HOW ARE YOUR HEALTH RESOLUTIONS GOING SO FAR? I know, I know, you didn't make any resolutions but we've got Michelle Zellner on the show today to discuss not only kicking off your new year right, but how to set a healthy framework that isn't a diet at all. Plus, her virtual vision board party is coming up, and it is always a GREAT motivator even if you don't make resolutions. Sign up for the vision board party here, and find Michelle's page and podcast here.

THE NEW DEMOCRAT GUN BILL WOULD EFFECTIVELY BAN A VAST MAJORITY OF GUNS IN COLORADO And I sure hope the Democrats pass this because it will get its ass kicked in court and maybe that is going to be what it takes to stop these people and their relentless march toward totalitarianism. I doubt even that will stop them but holy cow, this bill is even worse than I realized after my conversation with Taylor Rhodes from RMGO yesterday. Find the bill itself here. This article by Sherrie Peif goes over the many, many ways this trash is CLEARLY unconstitutional and the idiotic ways they have defined "assault weapon" so it covers almost all carry weapons that I am aware of, including my own. Kristi Burton Brown writes about more of the onerous provisions here. Please sign the petition against this ban here.

LESLIE HEROD IS TOO INCOMPETENT TO FILE BASIC PAPERWORK And now she wants to be Denver's Mayor. I don't believe for one second that she didn't get a year's worth of communications from the Secretary of State's office telling her to file the paperwork she has to file as an elected representative. If so, how did she get the letter with the huge fine she doesn't now have to pay? She's either lying or incompetent and both of those things should knock her right out of the Denver Mayor's race. One less clown in the clown car that is the Mayor's race now imo.

I HAVE A LIST WE CAN ALL USE HERE It's of how many Waffle Houses there are in each state. Travel accordingly and you're welcome.

DENVER IS NAMED THE WORST CITY TO RAISE A FAMILY You may brush this off, but when companies are looking to relocate they do look at quality of life stuff for their employees and this is not good. From our friends at Fox 31:

Denver was ranked as the nation’s worst city to raise a family, according to a Schoolaroo report. The firm of college scholarship analysts crunched each city’s child-friendliness based on six metrics: safety, health care, finances, education, leisure, quality of life and home atmosphere.
They used public crime, schooling, household finance, infrastructure, amenities and health care to track and score each city.

We weren't dead last in any of those categories but were near the bottom in ALL OF THEM. Read more here and then keep voting the way we keep voting.

CONGRATS TO TIM TEBOW Funny how we were talking about him yesterday and today we find out he's been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. Read more about the entire class here.

MACYS AND BIG LOTS ARE CLOSING SOME COLORADO STORES And you can find which ones here. Retail is in a state of flux right now, as longtime brands are trying to figure out a way to remain competitive in an increasingly online shopping world. If you love certain retail stores, you may want to boost your shopping at your preferred location to make sure they don't go away!

DENVER PLANS TO KICK ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OUT OF SHELTERS AFTER TWO WEEKS Because they have no plan for the people that they invited here by becoming a sanctuary city in the first place. I read this story and find it fascinating that in a city with a huge affordable housing crisis that affects actual citizens who live her and pay taxes, you have all these non profits trying to find places to live for people who may or may not have marketable skills that will earn them enough money to survive in our very expensive city. This seems to be resource drain that could have been avoided by different politics but here we are.

WE ARE PATHETIC IF THIS IS A NEWS STORY This is an actual headline in the Denver Post today:

The best places to cry in Denver, from parks to parking lots
Need to let it out, and out of the house? Reddit picked, and we whittled

Yep, we now have an article laying out the best places to cry in Denver. How about "at home"? That is the only place I think you need to cry, although I have cried at work ONCE and they were murder tears not sad tears. Murder tears are the tears you shed so you don't murder someone instead. We are lost as a society.

THIS IS INCREDIBLY SOOTHING KINETIC ART Feeling stressed? Just watch this.

TWO NEW STUDIES SHOW THAT THE VACCINES DON'T DO ALL THAT MUCH And these are studies done by major health care institutions, not economists or some such thing. The first by the Cleveland Clinic involving healthcare workers shows that the vaccines are only 30% effective at preventing covid. Stunning and not worth the trouble if you ask me. Now there is another study that shows that unvaccinated nursing home residents are NO MORE LIKELY to get a symptomatic case of covid than the unvaccinated. What? Read more here.

JOE BIDEN SLOPPY WITH TOP SECRET DOCUMENTS TOO Because top secret documents were found with other documents at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington. Now the FBI is involved but they haven't dramatically raided his houses in Delaware yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Read more here and then check out this article on how this is being spun with the help of the media desperate to protect their man.

THIS IS WHY TEACHERS DON'T NEED TO BE TALKING TO KIDS ABOUT SEX This is horrifying. A new report by Chicago Public Schools shows just how bad the child predator situation in public schools really is. Chicago Public Schools' Inspector General presented a report that showed 600 "adult on student" misconduct violations last year. SIX HUNDRED IN A YEAR. They substantiated half of them but only filed charges in 16 of them. OUT OF 300!!! From the article:

In a presentation to the CPS Board of Education in August, the CPS OIG reported that between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, it opened investigations into 81 sexual touching cases, 35 cases of grooming, 33 cases of sexual abuse, 26 cases of sexual acts, 25 cases of in-person sexual comments, 14 sexual electronic communications, eight cases of "outcry about past (sexual) conduct and 243 cases it deemed "concerning: other."
"Concerning: other" cases "may involve leering, 'creepy' behavior or other potentially concerning behavior.

This makes the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal seem tiny in comparison. Six hundred in one school year. I can't imagine why parents would think the people in schools shoving sexual identity politics and inappropriate sex education down the throats of little children is wrong.

THE KEVIN MCCARTHY ERA IS OFF TO A GOOD START As he stripped three odious Democrats of their powerful committee assignments. Nancy Pelosi set the precedent he's now following so I sure hope Dems keep their complaining to themselves. McCarthy stripped Ilhan Omar, the noted Anti-Semite, Eric Swalwell, the Chinese spy banger, and perpetual liar Adam Schiff of their assignments. Heh.

EVERY WIFE IN JANUARY I'm sure Chuck feels this a bit too. Just a bit.

THE PRESS DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE WHY DESANTIS WON'T TALK TO THEM and only appears on friendly outlets. But not once in the story do they ask or answer the questions why. Sad. Should I tell them about Polis and my show? This story originally from the New York Times laments that Ron DeSantis won't give mainstream media an interviewRead this long article and you would think that Ron DeSantis was just a big meanie dodging the honest and true and unbiased media. Unfortunately, they show no real interest in trying to find out WHY conservatives choose not to talk to them.

IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT WHAT YOU EAT, IT'S ABOUT WHEN YOU EAT I am so glad nutrition science is finally growing up. This new field of chrononutrition is asking all the right questions about how when we eat affects our bodies. Spoiler alert: earlier is better. Read more here.

THIS COMPANY FINES YOU IF YOU CONTACT SOMEONE ON VACATION And I know many people would LOVE this. When I go on vacation I turn everything work related OFF. Several years ago when I went on vacation I took my work email app off my phone and never re installed it. Best choice ever. Read more about the fine levied here.

EVEN PFIZER GOT IN ON THE CENSORSHIP GAME AT TWITTER As more and more stuff is coming out about how outside parties often directed censorship at Twitter, the latest one is about a private company flexing on Twitter to censor accurate covid vaccine information. This just gets more disgusting with every single reveal. Read it here.

FIRST PERSON SHOOTER GAMES MAY MAKE YOU SMARTER This is an interesting study about whether or not playing video games can help you be smarter. The surprising result is that out of all the kinds of video games, including those allegedly designed to help your brain, action games like first person shooters were the best at making your brain sharper. Now researchers are looking for non-violent games that have the same effect.

WANT TO LEAD A HEALTHY AND INDEPENDENT LONG LIFE? GRAB SOME WEIGHTS This is not surprising at ALL. Even those who have never exercised throughout their lives can benefit greatly from developing an exercise habit that includes walking and lifting weights on a regular basis. Read more here.

I CAN'T TELL IF THIS IS BRILLIANT OR JUST WEIRD There is a new Joaquin Phoenix movie coming out and I have no idea what it's about from this trailer. The film's description says:

“A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer-director Ari Aster.”

Watch the trailer and see if you can figure it out.
