Following Friday's Day 2 of the NFL Draft, Broncos general manager George Paton said there were at least six players who are still starting caliber on their draft board. And while they could've slid up a few picks in the 4th, they waited, and crossed their fingers and selected cornerback Dammari Mathis from Pittsburgh with pick 115 and one pick later, defensive lineman Eiyoma Uwazurike.

Both players participated in a conference call with Denver media following their selection. Davis, met with Denver at the Senior Bowl and wasn't completely surprised that George Paton drafted him, "I had a really good Zoom with them leading up to the draft," Davis said, "I just got that call out of nowhere, it kind of scared me a little bit, but I was excited, I just already knew what team it was, I'm just excited to get there and compete." Davis added that the Broncos were the first team to call him today.

Uwazurike, although he was a little less surprised his phone was ringing, the 303 area code did catch him off guard, slightly. "I couldn't believe it," he said. "I didn't know that I was on their list at all. It was definitely shocking to see, but when I got that phone call from Denver, I couldn't believe what I was looking at.
