Saturday night's Colorado Rockies intrasquad game was featured a little bit of everything: Pitching, hitting and defense.
It the end, Purple beat Pinstripes, 8-5.
Purple jumped all over Pinstripes starter Ryan Castellani, who went two innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Outfielder Charlie Blackmon started it with a leadoff home run. He went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
After scoring twice in the first inning, Purple broke the game open with a five-run second that featured doubles by Drew Butera, Daniel Murphy and Chris Owings.
Murphy was 3-4 with an RBI and two runs. Owings continued his good play with a 2-3 night. He had an RBI triple and a run-scoring double.
Purple starter German Marquez gave up a run in the first inning on David Dahl's leadoff double followed by Ryan McMahon's RBI ground out two batters later.
But Marquez turned in a good outing. He went four innings and surrendered two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Marquez got better the longer he pitched. He retired seven of the last eight men he faced and struck out four of the last six, including all three batters in the fourth inning.
Reliever Jairo Diaz, pitching for Purple, saw his first intrasquad action of Summer Camp. He gave up a three-run home run to Sam Hilliard in the fifth.
Hilliard was 2-3 with the three RBIs and also had a fine diving catch in left field to take a hit away from Butera in the third inning.
Dahl was 3-3 with a pair of doubles. He drove in a run and scored twice.
The Rockies will have another intrasquad game on Sunday at Coors Field.
