Once again, Purple got the better of Pinstripes.

This time it was a 6-3 win in the latest intrasquad game Wednesday night at Coors Field.

It was also the longest one so far during Summer Camp with the teams playing eight innings.

Purple scored first, getting two runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Josh Fuentes and Chris Rabago's run-scoring double.

Then Purple put up a four-run eighth inning, thanks to a two-run double off the bat of Dom Nunez, Yonathan Daza's RBI base hit and Garrett Hampson's run-scoring knock.

Pinstripes scored all their runs in the bottom of the eighth. Tyler Nevin lined a single to center to score Tony Wolters. Two batters later, Trevor Story homered deep to left field.

Both starting pitchers fared well.

Purple's Jeff Hoffman went three scoreless innings and gave up one hit while walking two and striking out three.

Chi Chi Gonzalez of Pinstripes also pitched three innings and did not surrender a run or a hit. He walked one and fanned a pair.

After a lighter day at Summer Camp on Thursday, the Rockies are planning on intrasquad games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Also on Wednesday, catcher Drew Butera talked about his good offensive start to Summer Camp...manager Bud Black talked about potentially playing games without fans in stadiums this year...and more.
