DOUGCO HAS OPTED OUT OF THE TRI COUNTY HEALTH MASK ORDER And though I like the INTENT behind this as Douglas County has not seen the same kind of uptick that Adams and Arapahoe have and probably shouldn't have to deal with the same restrictions, I sure hope that Dougco residents will CONTINUE wearing masks when they go out. I live in Dougco and I'd say the mask wearers to mask non-wearer ratio is about 90% to 10% now. We all know I hate masks but if they can let us get back to our lives somehow I'm begging you to hate it and wear one anyway too. And lest you think that the DougCo Commissioners are anti-science, it's quite the opposite. The doctor making the recommendations about mask usage to the Tri County Health Department did NOT recommend masks for DougCo but the board passed them anyway. He has decided to unilaterally decide that the Right to Assemble Peaceably only applies to Black people. This is absolutely insane and just plain wrong. He thinks the cause is TOO IMPORTANT to stop the protests. Thank goodness Covid 19 is able to discriminate between large groups of protesters and other large groups. PHEW.
