State House Sends Death Penalty Repeal To Governor

A bill to repeal Colorado's death penalty is heading to the governor's desk. It was given final approval in the state House yesterday after previous passage in the Senate. Governor Polis has indicated he will sign off on the measure. Colorado currently has three prisoners on death row, but the repeal would not affect their sentences unless they were granted clemency. The state hasn't carried out an execution since 1997.

Rep. Jared Polis
