UPDATE: On 11/11/19 at about 8:30 pm, the Loveland Police Department was investigating a possible homicide in the 3300 block of Cuchara Court. Members of the Loveland Police Department SWAT Team entered the residence and encountered an adult female suspect in the homicide investigation. The female refused multiple commands and fired at officers, striking one of them in the ballistic helmet, after which several officers returned fire. The SWAT member who was struck in the ballistic helmet was not seriously injured and was treated and released at the scene.
The Larimer County Coroner’s office has subsequently identified the original homicide victim as 60 year-old Samuel Harding and the female party as 59 year-old Tammy Pierce who both resided in the home on Cuchara Court.
The officers who returned fire were placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with Loveland Police Department policy. The officers are identified below in alphabetical order:
Officer Paul Ashe is a seven-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department. Officer Ashe came to the Loveland Police Department from the Colorado State University Police Department.
Officer Mat Grashorn is a five-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department. Officer Grashorn began his law enforcement career at the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office in Wyoming.
Master Sergeant Phil Metzler is a 25-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department. Master Sergeant Metzler began his law enforcement career with the Evans Police Department.
All three of the above officers are members of the Loveland Police Department SWAT Team.
