The State Patrol says one of its troopers was struck by a car and killed on Wednesday. Corporal Daniel Groves, 52, was on I-76 working an incident where a car had slid off the roadway. That's when a 2001 Volvo, driven by John Carpenter, 58, lost control on the highway and hit Groves who was outside of his vehicle. He died after being taken to the Platte Valley Medical Center. High speed and poor driving conditions are being investigated as possible factor in this tragedy.
