It's Death Penalty Friday!

THE MAN WHO MAY HAVE SENT DOWN THE LAST DEATH PENALTY SENTENCE IS ON TODAY As the Colorado legislature debates on whether or not to do away with the death penalty in Colorado I'm going to talk to Carl Dubler. Carl was the jury foreman on the trial of the man who murdered State Sen. Rhonda Fields son, and he presided over a jury which handed down a death sentence that may never be carried out. He's on at 2 to talk about his experiences. Buy his book by clicking here.

THIS OIL AND GAS BILL STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN And the Democratic State Senator from Boulder who helped write the bill in secret has been caught by his own braggadocio. Sen. Steve Fenberg has been telling people NOW that NO ONE saw the draft of the bill before it was released. Unfortunately, he told a group of friendly activists in Boulder something completely different in February. Let's compare statements (as grabbed from Complete Colorado, read the whole story here.)

At the March 5 Senate Transportation Committee Fenberg responded “no one,” when Sen. Ray Scott, R-Grand Junction asked specifically who saw advance copies.
“I did not provide the bill language to anybody,” Fenberg said in part. “I also did not provide the bill language to people who are here today that I assume are proponents of the bill. This was something I was working on up until the bill was introduced. It is something the Speaker of the House was working on until it was introduced. … It was not shared with advocates, proponents, or opponents before the bill was public.”

But then in February at a Town Hall he said this:

“The people that have seen this draft of what we’re working on, that actually know what’s in it, are the two of us (which appears to be Becker), the drafter, and advocates — many of which are probably in the audience — and people that would help implement the regulations that work in the state government,” Fenberg told the crowd.

So which is it? Sure would be fun if someone asked him to clarify before they ram this complete overhaul of one of our largest industries through.

YOU NEED SOME BLUES THIS MORNING And thanks to Steve for making me aware of Eric Tessmer. If you'r a blues fan, you're welcome. If you're not, this might make you.

PAID FAMILY LEAVE MAY BE COMING TO COLORADO And though I am loathe to create another government program that forces everyone to participate, I do think this is an issue that needs to be addressed somehow. Democrats are trying to address it through more government with a program like unemployment benefits. As we know this will pass, we should all learn what's in it.

REP. ILHAN OMAR IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR THE DEMOCRATS Because it's going to be harder and harder to pass garbage resolutions every time she shows her contempt of Jews. And fresh off the passage of the first garbage resolution, she put herself right back at the top of Anti-Semite hill by retweeting a nasty tweet about Meghan McCain and her late father. Check it.

So what now, San Fran Nan? This woman hates Israel, has a long history of anti-Semitism and every time the Dems try to make excuses for her, they make it worse. Like when the House Majority whip said this in an interview with TheHill.com:

Clyburn came to Omar’s defense Wednesday, lamenting that many of the media reports surrounding the recent controversy have omitted mentioning that Omar, who was born in Somalia, had to flee the country to escape violence and spent four years in a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States.
Her experience, Clyburn argued, is much more empirical — and powerful — than that of people who are generations removed from the Holocaust, Japanese internment camps during World War II and the other violent episodes that have marked history.
“I’m serious about that. There are people who tell me, ‘Well, my parents are Holocaust survivors.’ ‘My parents did this.’ It’s more personal with her,” Clyburn said. “I’ve talked to her, and I can tell you she is living through a lot of pain.”

Got that? Her story of being a refugee is "more empirical--- and powerful" than those stupid kids of Holocaust survivors. Jews make up a good part of the Democrat base, and this can't sit well with them.

I LOVE HAPPY STORIES LIKE THIS ONE! Because an eleven year old girl is making nursing home residents happy with three simple things.

DEMOCRATS VOTE TO ALLOW ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TO VOTE And this isn't even being done under some kind of secrecy. The vote doesn't really do anything but support localities like San Francisco who allow illegal immigrants to vote in local elections. Here's a question, why would someone become a citizen or seek legal status now? Why bother? Just move to a city where no one will bust your hustle and live here illegally indefinitely.

LIBERALS FIND OUT THAT THE RICH DO RESPOND TO BEING OVERTAXED As the wealthy flee places like New York where they dig through your social media and vet bills just to soak you with a huge tax bill. Guess what? The rich can move. And they are.

FINALLY ONE MEMBER OF CONGRESS CALLS OUT THE DEMOCRATS FOR CHICKENING OUT ON OMAR

IT'S TRUE, WHITE, EDUCATED LIBERALS ARE THE LEAST TOLERANT AMONG US And I got this from The Atlantic, so they can't say it's from those dirty right wingers. From the article:

In general, the most politically intolerant Americans, according to the analysis, tend to be whiter, more highly educated, older, more urban, and more partisan themselves. This finding aligns in some ways with previous research by the University of Pennsylvania professor Diana Mutz, who has found that white, highly educated people are relatively isolated from political diversity. They don’t routinely talk with people who disagree with them; this isolation makes it easier for them to caricature their ideological opponents. (In fact, people who went to graduate school have the least amount of political disagreement in their lives, as Mutz describes in her bookHearing the Other Side.) By contrast, many nonwhite Americans routinely encounter political disagreement. They have more diverse social networks, politically speaking, and therefore tend to have more complicated views of the other side, whatever side that may be.

Huh. Imagine that. I don't have to, I know it's true.

WEATHERMEN AND WOMEN ARE NOW TRYING TO EXPLAIN CLIMATE CHANGE And bless our own Chris Spears for keeping his comments to himself on this. It's taken a while but the angry screeching from warmies has worn them down. Now a vast majority of weatherfolk thing climate change is our fault.

HARVARD KID WINS AFTER HIS SHOE COMES OFF BECAUSE OF HONOR And rivalry. This is a cool story and you should read it.
