Siemian To IR; No Word On QB For Redskins Game

Vance Joseph

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph speaks with reporters on Friday, December 15, 2017.

After defeating the Indianapolis Colts, 25-13, on Thursday night, the Denver Broncos do not play again until Christmas Eve when they take on the Washington Redskins.

By that time, the Broncos might be starting quarterback Paxton Lynch again.

The Broncos put Trevor Siemian on injured reserve on Monday after he injured his left shoulder against the Colts. Brock Osweiler replaced Siemian on Thursday night and led the Broncos comeback.

But head coach Vance Joseph said Monday that Lynch is expected to be available and might get the start. He has been out the past several weeks with an ankle injury suffered in his start against the Raiders on November 26.

"We're going to have a staff meeting on Monday morning and see who's best for us," Joseph said. "Obviously Paxton being a young guy, we want to see him play more so that part will have some bearing there."

Joseph also said when he looks at playing time for the rest of the season, he views the quarterback position differently than other spots on the team.

"With the quarterback, we have to see where we are there," Joseph said. "That's obviously a major decision moving to the offseason. So that's different in my opinion."

"Now, we're not going to forfeit games," Joseph added. "Whoever is playing for us, our goal is to win the football game."

Joseph also talked about why things have come together for the Broncos the last couple of games, other young players who might see action before the end of the season, Jordan Taylor as the emergency quarterback and more.

Coach closed his press conference with a message for Broncos Country.

"Something good is happening here. It's going to get fixed. Promise."
