Cory Lopez, a native of Gering, Nebraska, has over 25 years of experience in broadcasting news and sports. Lopez began his career at the age of 17 at a small radio station in Nebraska, and subsequently took an offer in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to work as a television sports anchor. From there, Lopez took a position at a small radio station in Lamar, Colorado, and discovered his passion for covering prep sports. Lopez worked in Lamar for several years, establishing his play-by-play career by covering volleyball, baseball, basketball and football. After a short stint in Loveland & Greeley, Lopez was given the opportunity to take a position at 850 KOA in Denver as a news reporter and producer. During this time, he continued to cover prep sports for a variety of outlets in Denver on radio and TV. In the summer of 2014, Lopez decided to make the move into KOA's sports department full-time, and is the host of PrimeTime Sports and the weekly Rockies' All Access Show, as well as the play-by-play announcer for the CU Women's Basketball team. Lopez covers all of Denver's professional sports team for KOA, and continues to keep his hand in the prep sports scene of Denver as a commentator as well. In his personal life, Lopez is married with two small children and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, and playing baseball with his son.
