Rockies Acquire Catcher Jonathan Lucroy

The Colorado Rockies made another move on Sunday night, acquiring catcher Jonathan Lucroy from the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later.

Lucroy has had a subpar year offensively, hitting just .242 with four home runs and 27 RBIs. Over nearly eight big league seasons, however, he is a .280 hitter. In addition, his veteran presence, however, should bolster the Rockies' catching corps.

Lucroy was in his first full season with the Rangers after being traded from the Brewers last summer.

Coupled with the trade for reliever Pat Neshek last week, the Rockies are clearly making a push to solidfy a postseason berth for the first time since 2009.

The non-waiver trade deadline is Monday, July 31 at 2 p.m. mountain time.
