Steele is being held on $50,000 bond.  Aurora police say he was involved in a shoplift from Best Buy in Aurora.  He left the scene.  Officers stopped him near East Alameda Avenue and I-225.  One officer contacted the driver and then returned to his car while another officer remained at the passenger-side door.  The passenger door was open when Steele suddenly and rapidly accelerated away.  The officer fell to the ground and struck his head on the pavement.  The officer fired one shot.  The vehicle continued and was pursued by other officers.  The suspect was taken into custody with a gunshot wound to the leg.  The officer was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening head injury.
